Explore Frankfurt conveniently and affordably with the Frankfurt Card – free public transport and exclusive discounts on museums, attractions and events.
In addition to the official Frankfurt Card, there is also the RheinMain Card. An alternative to public transportation is using one of the hop-on hop-off buses in Frankfurt.
The Frankfurt Card is Frankfurt's official tourist ticket and offers you free travel on all public transport (including airport transfer) as well as 20–50% discount on museums, attractions, tours, theaters, the zoo and more.
Choose between the Frankfurt Card (with public transport) or the cheaper Basic variant – available as 1- or 2-day cards for individuals or groups of up to 5 people.
Buy the card conveniently online as a digital voucher or directly on-site, e.g. at the Tourist Information Römer or at the main train station.
Redeem your voucher at the Tourist Information Römer. The card is valid from the entered start date for the booked duration – including discount booklet.
Use the card as a ticket for all public transport and show it at museums, tours and attractions to receive your discount.
The Frankfurt Card basic does not include the public transport ticket and offers only the experience discounts. The regular Frankfurt Card, on the other hand, includes free use of local public transport in Frankfurt. So if you want to use buses and trains during your stay (which is highly recommended in Frankfurt), you should go for the normal Frankfurt Card.
Yes. In addition to the card for individuals, there is a group card for up to 5 people. All travelers receive one shared card on which all names are entered. The group must stay together as only one card is issued for everyone and must be presented at museum ticket offices or during inspections.
The group card is worthwhile from 2 people onwards, provided everyone wants to use the same offers together. Tip: If you're traveling with children, keep in mind that children up to 5 years old can travel free on public transport even without a card. For older children/teenagers, the group card can be used; however, many places also offer their own children's or family prices which may be cheaper than the Frankfurt Card discount.
You can use the Frankfurt Card conveniently digitally on your smartphone. Printing is not mandatory. When you buy online, you receive a PDF/digital ticket that you can show on your phone. Of course, it's also possible to print the ticket if you prefer to take a paper copy with you. Digital tickets are accepted on buses and at ticket offices – just make sure your device has sufficient battery and the ticket is clearly legible.
The card is valid throughout the entire Frankfurt city area as a travel ticket, including the airport area. You can use all municipal transport with it (S-trains, U-trains, trams, buses and regional trains within Frankfurt). It is not valid outside Frankfurt or on long-distance trains (IC/ICE).
For discount benefits, it's valid at all official partners of the Frankfurt Card – this includes most municipal museums, many private museums, major attractions like the zoo or Palm Garden, city tours, selected tour operators, restaurants and shops. A complete list is available online and is often provided at the tourist information office.
The Frankfurt Card is easily available – both locally in Frankfurt and online:
Note: Group cards (for up to 5 people) are currently not directly bookable online and must be purchased by phone or at the Tourist Info office.
